Out from With: An Exploration of the “Divine Femine”
Join us to see our new art exhibit - Out From Within: An Exploration of the “Divine Femine".”
As astrology and spiritual practices increasingly become aestheticized trends, the term “Divine Feminine” is often thought of as a new-age buzzword, and nothing more. Ironically, despite this connotation, the concept of the “Divine Feminine” is more applicable to our society than ever. Rooted in ancient tradition and mythology, the “Divine Feminine” represents the side of human consciousness responsible for nurture, empathy, and intuition. Working in tandem with masculine divinity, the “Divine Feminine” encourages an innate understanding of the world, rather than a logic-dependent observational understanding of one’s surroundings. Many assume that the “Divine Feminine” is energy that only serves women, something that makes females “soft” or “easily agreeable”. This assumption is wrong. The “Divine Feminine” is a universal concept that extends beyond gender-binary, bringing power to traits that are dismissed as “girlish” to all; no matter the gender.
“Out From Within” is an exhibit that explores feminine power without imposed gender. Our female-identifying and non-binary artists exhibit pieces that answer the personal question of “What does the Divine Feminine mean to you”? From Braeden Cox’s reclaiming of masculine artistic tropes to Suki Hyman’s depiction of queer sex beyond the male gaze, our artists’ pieces paint femininity as a concept rather than a gender. With this mindset, we have created an exhibit that evokes a universally applicable interpretation of the art, an homage to the “Divine Feminine”. We hope that all viewers when exploring the gallery take the time to reflect on the universality of each piece while asking themselves what traditionally feminine aspects of who they are emote power and stretch beyond the gender binary.
Lolo Pass is thrilled to be partnering with Rose Haven, a day shelter and community center in Portland OR serving women, children, and gender non-conforming folks experiencing poverty, trauma, and intersecting issues, for the duration of our “Out From Within” exhibit.
